What is Fermah?
Fermah is building a universal marketplace for zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs, designed to make ZK technology more accessible, secure, and affordable. The project aims to solve a major challenge in the ZK space: the high cost and complexity of generating proofs. Founded by a cryptography PhD from UCLA and backed by over 15 years of research, Fermah acts as a decentralized 'ZK marketplace'.
It connects the supply side (hardware providers with GPUs, FPGAs) with the demand side (any ZK application needing to generate proofs). An intelligent 'Matchmaker' system ensures optimal pairing for performance and cost-efficiency. Fermah supports a wide range of proving systems, including zkVM, zkEVM, and Groth16, positioning itself as essential infrastructure for the growing ecosystem of Layer-2s and DeFi applications that rely on ZK technology.
The project has secured significant funding from top-tier venture capital firms, including a16z crypto, Lemniscap, and Bankless Ventures, highlighting strong industry confidence.
